East Lyme High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered 1.0 FTE Music Teacher to join its strong, well-established music program.
This position is anticipated to place significant emphasis on band and instrumental music, including responsibilities for concert band, percussion, marching band, parades, performances, and other school and community events. The successful candidate should be prepared to build upon a tradition of excellence while bringing energy, strong musicianship, and a commitment to student engagement.
East Lyme High School has a history of student participation in marching band, parades, and related community performances. While experience with marching band is preferred and the continuation of these opportunities would be valued, it is not required for the position. Candidates with the ability to develop strong student performance opportunities through concert band, pep band, jazz band, percussion, or other instrumental ensembles are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities include teaching high school music courses, directing instrumental ensembles, supporting performances and co-curricular music experiences, collaborating with the music department, and contributing to a positive school culture.
While the anticipated assignment is heavily focused on band, candidates should understand that the position includes other music-related courses or responsibilities such as an ECE Popular Music course, “History of Rock & Pop” and “Music Tech”. Depending on future student enrollment, scheduling needs, and program development, other courses such as guitar, piano, or music theory could also be necessary.
Preferred qualifications include experience with high school band, percussion, student performances, parades, marching band, pep band, and/or jazz band.
