POSITION: Truck Driver / Operator
LOCATION: Baraga, MI
PAY RATE: $19.50/hr
STATUS: Full-time

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for safely operating a commercial truck to provide prompt and courteous service to customers. Main duties are operating a refuse truck and collecting refuse and recyclable materials on a designated route. Also responsible for general maintenance of vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma or GED or High School Certification of Completion is required.
2. Two (2) years of combined education and experience in power equipment operation and commercial truck driving preferred.
3. Must have a valid, unrestricted Michigan Commercial Driver License, Class B, to operate any/all equipment or vehicles within the KBIC Solid Waste Facility.
4. Must be 21, insurable under the fleet vehicle policy and have a good driving record. **Must sign the KBIC Driving Record Check Form.
5. Must be able to lift 75 pounds unassisted.
6. Must be flexible with scheduling including willing to work weekends, holidays and during special projects.
7. Familiar with safe work methods and safety practices pertaining to the work.
8. Knowledge of operations and maintenance of a variety of equipment and hand and power tools used in the work.
9. Knowledge of applicable tribal, local, state and federal laws and regulations relating to transportation and public works.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Operates and maintains equipment, vehicles, and tools used in the field.
· Identifies and implements effective courses of action to complete assigned work.
· Ensures adherence to safe work practices.
· Maintains accurate records.
· Uses sound, independent judgment within policy and procedural guidelines.
· Represents the department and the KBIC effectively with public and private organizations and the public.
· Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
· May assist with the curbside garbage route/waste collection.
· Work includes exposure to continuous dust, noise, and odors along with other normal hazards associated with construction environment.
· Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time, bend/stoop and lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
2. Must be able to tolerate varying levels of noise, dust and/or smells.
3. Employee must pass a pre-employment background clearance, physical and drug screen.
