Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and highly skilled Medical Director Psychiatric for Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) to lead and oversee clinical operations within our psychiatric services. This pivotal role involves providing expert medical leadership, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and fostering a culture of excellence in patient care. The Medical Director will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop treatment protocols, supervise clinical staff, and promote innovative practices that enhance patient outcomes. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical leadership for psychiatric services within the PHP setting, ensuring high standards of clinical care and patient safety.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical staff including psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and case managers to foster professional growth and maintain quality standards.
- Develop, review, and update treatment protocols aligned with best practices, clinical research findings, and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, FDA regulations, NCQA standards, and healthcare compliance.
- Oversee the management of electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of medical records, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to utilization management protocols and manage compliance with drug enforcement regulations (DEA), HIPAA, and other relevant policies.
- Collaborate with hospital administration on practice management initiatives including budgeting, quality improvement projects, and strategic planning for clinical development.
- Lead efforts in clinical research initiatives related to psychiatric treatments or program outcomes to advance evidence-based practices.
- Maintain active involvement in treating patients directly as a physician while providing oversight for the overall clinical operations of the program.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of psychiatry including physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology relevant to mental health treatments.
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems management and electronic health records documentation.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, FDA guidelines, NCQA standards, DEA regulations, and healthcare compliance policies.
- Demonstrated leadership in medical management with previous supervisory or teaching experience in hospital or outpatient settings.
- Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams effectively through project management skills and executive leadership capabilities.
- Experience in clinical research or clinical development initiatives related to psychiatric care is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with hospital staff, external agencies, patients, and their families while maintaining professionalism at all times.
