An Assistant Maintenance Manager in hospitality supports the Head of Maintenance by supervising daily repairs, overseeing preventative maintenance (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and ensuring guest satisfaction. They lead technicians, inspect facilities for safety, and manage upkeep to maintain high standards. Key duties include responding to guest requests and ensuring compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Implement and oversee schedules for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and guest room appliances.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance staff, including technicians.
- Guest Experience & Safety: Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and ensure all safety regulations (fire systems, pool, etc.) are compliant.
- Inspections: Perform regular inspections of hotel rooms, public spaces, and exteriors to identify and repair issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Usually, 18 months to 3+ years in hospitality maintenance with supervisory experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, pool operator’s certification. General facility repairs.
- Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and computer skills (MS Office/systems).
- Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more and perform physical work like walking, kneeling, and climbing.
