Openwork is hiring an experienced Packaging Specialist for a leading metals manufacturing facility in Northeast Houston. If you have experience in packaging, material handling, and forklift operation and are looking for a long-term opportunity with room to grow, this could be the right fit for you.
We're looking for dependable individuals who take pride in producing quality work, maintaining a safe workplace, and contributing to a successful production team.
- Package finished products according to customer and shipping specifications
- Verify dimensions, counts, labels, and product quality before shipment
- Read and follow work orders, packing instructions, and shipping documents
- Build pallets, crate, band, shrink-wrap, and prepare products for shipment
- Operate a forklift to move and stage materials
- Inspect products for defects and report any quality concerns
- Clean products and maintain an organized work area
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures
- 2+ years of manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or material handling experience required
- Forklift experience required (forklift assessment conducted during the interview)
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Basic math skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and remain active throughout a 10-hour shift
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Overhead crane experience is a plus
- Reliable attendance and strong commitment to workplace safety
- Work with lead-based materials in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Required use of PPE, including a half-mask respirator
- Must be clean-shaven each workday for proper respirator fit
- Daily showering after each shift and periodic blood testing are required
