Job Summary
Kestrel Veterinary Hospital is a small animal general practice in Edmonds, WA that opened in February, 2025. Kestrel Vet is independently and locally owned/operated by Dr. Kayla Hough. Current office hours are Monday-Thursday 8am-6 pm, with the potential to expand. We are seeking to hire a Veterinary Technician to join our team!
Duties
- Assist with examinations, treatments and procedures with safe animal restraint, handling and positioning.
- Document patient information, history, and client communication accurately in veterinary practice management software.
- Provide excellent client communication and support via telephone, email, text or in-person regarding treatment plans, estimates, laboratory results and diagnostics as directed.
- Administer medications and treatments to hospitalized patients (monitoring, walking, feeding, etc.)
- Assist veterinarian with common surgical procedures while maintaining aseptic technique.
- Induction, intubation and maintenance of patients under gas anesthesia.
- Perform dental prophylaxis, preference given to applicants with experience and proficiency with dental extractions
- Prepare and maintain surgical areas, including cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
- Monitor vital signs, collect samples for in-house or reference laboratory analysis and perform diagnostic tests.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (required):
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Currently licensed or eligible to become licensed as a Veterinary Technician in the State of Washington
- The ideal candidate would have prior veterinary technician experience for at least 1-2+ years, but we are willing to consider recent LVT graduates of an AVMA CVTEA approved program
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Proficiency in clinical and communication skills as listed above in duties.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour
