Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor residents’ health status by observing vital signs, assessing mental and physical well-being, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and autism support.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning while accommodating special dietary requirements related to medical conditions or personal preferences.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks in residents’ living spaces and common areas in compliance with health standards.
- Provide transportation assistance for medical appointments, community outings, or personal errands to promote social engagement and independence.
- Document all care activities accurately and communicate effectively with team members regarding resident progress or concerns.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, first aid, CPR certification, and vital signs monitoring is essential.
- Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays supports effective caregiving strategies.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper manual handling techniques; experience with patient transfer equipment like Hoyer lifts is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills necessary for client interaction and team collaboration within diverse caregiving environments.
- Certification in first aid and CPR; additional training in HIPAA compliance and patient safety is beneficial.
