Position Summary
Mbroh Engineering is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I/C) Drafter to support the development of clear, accurate, and professional drawing packages for industrial, municipal, utility, water/wastewater, transportation, and infrastructure projects. This role works closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and maintain high-quality construction documents throughout all phases of project delivery.
The ideal candidate brings strong AutoCAD experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting multiple concurrent projects in a collaborative engineering environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Prepare and revise instrumentation and controls drawing packages based on engineer and designer input while maintaining accuracy, quality, and project schedules.
- Develop and update P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, instrument installation details, interlock diagrams, and related I/C drafting deliverables.
- Coordinate drawing deliverables with engineers, designers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency and completeness.
- Track drawing progress, communicate schedule impacts, and support timely completion of deliverables.
- Update drawing packages as designs evolve throughout project development and construction phases.
- Manage layers, blocks, xrefs, title blocks, sheet sets, plotting, and document issuance in accordance with company and client standards.
- Incorporate engineering markups, field red lines, and client comments into drawing packages in a timely manner.
- Assist with field markups, as-builts, and record drawings; maintain organized file structures and version control procedures.
- Support I/O lists, instrument indexes, device schedules, quantity takeoffs, and project documentation efforts.
- Participate in quality control reviews and help maintain drafting standards and best practices.
- Support and collaborate with junior drafting staff as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
- Certificate or AAS in Drafting/Design, Engineering Technology, or closely related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of instrumentation and controls drafting experience.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam, including model/paper space, annotation, Xrefs, dynamic blocks, and sheet set management.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering markups, specifications, P&IDs, and technical documents.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and controls drafting standards and construction document preparation.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and schedule management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Revit (Preferred), AutoCAD Electrical, or similar software preferred.
- Familiarity with PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial control system documentation preferred.
- Experience supporting industrial, municipal, utility, water/wastewater, transportation, or infrastructure projects preferred.
- Familiarity with control panels, instrumentation installation details, and process control systems preferred.
- Exposure to document management and collaboration platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or Navisworks preferred.
- Positive, proactive, and collaborative approach to problem solving and teamwork.
- Ability to build strong professional cross-functional relationships.
- Exposure to AutoCAD Plant 3D or Smart P&ID environments is a plus
- Basic understanding of instrument tagging and coordination between P&IDs and I/O lists
- Basic working knowledge of Revit for 3D coordination and model navigation is preferred
- Ability to support instrument placement and coordination within 3D models
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
