The Equipment Technician is responsible for light duty repairs including brake replacements and fluid changes on company tractors and trailers. This role will specialize in troubleshooting and repairing equipment, maintaining preventative maintenance schedules on all tractors and trailers, and identifying, ordering, tracking, and managing parts. The Equipment Technician will maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Department of Transportation annual inspection requirements.
To ensure success as an Equipment Technician, you will troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, recondition, and service tractors and trailers. You will communicate findings and recommendations to drivers and management. In this role you must be competent in safety and machine preparation and capable of managing work documentation.
You will be held accountable to comply with all defined business process and the utilization of all technology platforms, as defined by FST. In this role, you will determine fleet condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts. The Equipment Technician will verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives, comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards, and maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning and washing. You will keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, and calling for repairs.
Qualifications and Skillsets:

- Take ownership of your Duty to Communicate all required and relevant information to necessary people, departments, and customers
- 3+ years of diesel mechanic experience
- Knowledge of tractor repair and services on vehicles
- Knowledge of refrigerated trailers is preferred
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Class A CDL preferred to test drive and/or move equipment as needed
- Good communication skills
- Strong ability to work independently and efficiently
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for 8-10 hours per day
- Ability to move up to 85 pounds and lift 50lbs.
- Ability to work outside with varying temperatures, such as: humidity, wet and dirty environments along with a moderate to high noise level
- Perform physical activities requiring considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body; such as: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
