Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic critical care team in Worcester. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients within the Intensive Care Unit, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert assessment, intervention, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will possess extensive ICU experience and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological monitoring to identify changes in patient condition promptly.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, sedation, and pain management protocols, adhering strictly to hospital policies and safety standards.
- Manage airway maintenance and ventilator support for critically ill patients requiring respiratory assistance.
- Monitor laboratory results, interpret diagnostic evaluations such as ECGs and lab tests, and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists on procedures such as cardiac catheterization, dialysis, or trauma interventions to ensure seamless patient care.
- Document all nursing activities comprehensively in electronic health records (EHR systems) while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families during critical health events.
- Implement infection control procedures and aseptic techniques to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Assist with emergency responses including trauma medicine, acute pain management, and airway management during rapid deterioration.
- Participate in discharge planning, including coordination with case management for post-acute care or hospice services. Requirements:
- Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice.
- Minimum of one year of ICU experience.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic.
- Demonstrated expertise in critical care procedures including ventilator management, IV insertion, suturing, and catheterization.
- Experience working with complex patient populations such as those requiring infectious disease care or trauma medicine.
- Knowledge of advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification; basic life support (BLS) certification required.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to critical care settings.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in high-stakes environments while maintaining compassionate patient-centered care.
