Langdale Forest Products Co. is a subsidiary of The Langdale Company, a family-owned corporation that was established in 1894, that is also headquartered in Valdosta, GA and employees around 1,200 people. The Langdale Company owns approximately two dozen companies that include OSB, MDF and Molding plants and scientifically manages approximately 270,000 acres of forest land that provide raw material for its’ manufacturing facilities. Langdale Forest Products is a modern lumber manufacturing facility that primarily produces dimensional (2") lumber. Internal departments include the Sawmill, Continuous Dry Kilns, a Planer Mill, Shipping, Maintenance, Electrical and Fabrication Departments. Our production capacity is around 200 MMBF/year. In addition to lumber production, we operate an on-site transportation company, LANCO Trucking, that delivers our finished products. Our company motto is “Quality and Service Since 1894". JOB DESCRIPTION
Accountant
Responsible for all aspects of the financial
process relating to analyzing, recording, and
communicating the financial information of this
company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Maintains general ledger accounts by monitoring accounts to ensure items are properly classified.
2. Responsible for fixed assets accounting.
3. Analyzes AP invoices to determine whether or not items are taxable. Determines where invoices should be charged.
4. Compiles, submits, and funds all applicable taxes, i.e. payroll taxes, sales and use taxes, and property taxes.
5. Backup for AR and AP.
6. Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
7. Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing defined duties, as well as any additional duties that may be required for the fulfillment of his/her responsibilities.
8. Responsible for being present and on time for work each day.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
1. Responsible for Tangible and Intangible Tax Reports.
2. Verifies and requests payment on Ad Valorem Taxes.: *Accounting Degree and 1- 2 years of experience.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
*Knowledge of A/P and A/R.
*Ability to operate computer system and printer.
*10 key calculator by touch.
*Ability to type 40 wpm.
*Excellent verbal and written skills needed.
HOURS OF WORK:
*Monday – Friday (40 hours per week)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
*Substantial sitting.
*Must occasionally lift, carry, and handle files,
computer printouts, and binders weighing up to
10 - 30 pounds.
