An Assistant Project Manager (APM) helps a Senior Project Manager oversee a roofing project from start to finish, managing teams, materials, budgets, and schedules to ensure the project’s successful completion on time and within budget.
APM's will serve as a secondary point of contact for clients and coordinate with the company’s crews, suppliers, and management to ensure clear communication and high-quality results that meet customer expectations.
Pre-Construction & Planning
- Inspections & Estimating:
APM's will need to help conduct inspections, document damage, and provide cost estimates for repairs or replacements for clients.
This includes completing and maintaining paperwork for change orders, Add Ons and deductions if necessary.
- Materials & Labor Planning:
APM's will need to help determine the materials, equipment, and manpower needed and arrange for their timely delivery and availability.
APM's will have to read each contract that they are assigned and all exclusions.
APM's will help work on developing and understanding project scopes, create detailed work plans, and review designs to identify potential issues.
This includes stopping work when any situation is not in favor of FBC Commercial Roofing until a solution has been approved by clients and the necessary paperwork has been submitted and completed.
APM's will perform takeoffs and set budgets to ensure each project stays financially on track.
APM's will work with team members to ensure budgets for each project are met throughout the duration of the project.
Execution & Oversight
APM's will help supervise and coordinate company teams and subcontractors, providing direction and ensuring their performance meets quality standards.
APM's will help monitor and inspect the quality of workmanship to ensure it aligns with standards and client expectations.
Oversee installation:
APM's must work with other management to supervise work in progress to ensure installations follow project specifications, quality requirements, and all relevant building codes.
APM's will help ensure all safety guidelines and regulations are followed on each job site.
APM's will proactively address any unforeseen issues, practical problems, and potential risks that arise during any project.
Communication & Client Relations
APM's will help act as the main liaison between the client and the project team, keeping clients informed of progress and maintaining goodwill.
APM's must always maintain their professionalism with clients and not endanger relations with clients.
- Management Communication:
APM's must communicate effectively with clients, property managers, suppliers, and other managers within the company to ensure everyone is aligned.
APM's must communicate with team members any pertinent information pertaining to each project.
This needs to be completed on a weekly basis.
APM's must help provide regular, detailed reports on the project's progress, budget, and any significant developments to the company team members and management.
Project Closeout
APM's must help ensure that final inspections have been conducted to ensure all aspects of the roof and job site are completed to the highest standard.
APM's must document all project activities and progress, often through photos, for record-keeping and client files.
Other Duties
- Travel Requirements (Local):
Must be available to travel to job sites and client locations locally (within 5 hours of Lavon Office) via POV or company-provided transportation.
- Travel Requirements (Non-Local):
Must be available to travel to job sites and client locations that are considered non-local (5 hours away from Lavon Office) via plane, POV or company-provisioned transportation.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
