Duties
- Assist with animal restraint, handling, and pet care to ensure safety and comfort during examinations and treatments
- Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with clinical procedures such as IV insertions, catheterizations, medication administration, and aseptic techniques
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, kennels, and surgical suites through thorough cleaning and sanitation practices
- Manage record keeping including patient files, treatment logs, and medication records with accuracy and attention to detail
- Provide excellent client communication by answering questions, explaining pet care instructions, and scheduling appointments at the front desk
- Handle animals of various species with compassion, including dog handling and general animal husbandry tasks
- Support surgical procedures by preparing instruments, assisting during surgeries, and monitoring anesthesia under supervision
Requirements
- Previous kennel or animal handling experience preferred; veterinary clinic experience is a plus
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior
- Experience with animal restraint techniques and pet care procedures such as medication administration and record keeping
- Ability to perform cleaning duties diligently to maintain a sterile environment
- Skilled in IV insertion, catheterization, aseptic technique, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Willingness to learn about veterinary critical care practices and support surgery teams as needed
- Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques while demonstrating compassion for animal welfare
