Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty machinery and equipment, including paving equipment, site equipment and vehicle fleets. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. Candidates with dealership experience and strong mechanical knowledge will be highly valued. This position offers the opportunity to work with diverse equipment such as excavators, asphalt pavers, asphalt mills, rollers, skid steers, motor-graders, and dump trucks in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and heavy equipment including excavators, asphalt pavers, asphalt mills, rollers, skid steers, motor-graders, dump trucks and industrial machinery
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, and fluid checks
- Utilize OEM schematics and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding, or soldering techniques
- Conduct alignment, suspension repairs, air brake servicing, hydraulics repair, and HVAC system maintenance
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet safety standards
- Operate heavy equipment for testing or operational purposes after repairs are completed
- Assist in assembly or disassembly of complex machinery components for repair or replacement
- Adhere to safety protocols during all maintenance activities involving heavy lifting or hazardous materials
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience specializing in diesel engines and heavy equipment repair
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment and OEM parts, schematics, and automotive diagnostics
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, soldering, and use of hand tools and power tools
- Familiarity with farm machinery, industrial equipment, vehicle maintenance
- Knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics systems, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC systems
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment as needed
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting and service technician tasks is preferred
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong mechanical aptitude and customer service skills

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
