Job Description
WE ARE EXPANDING, AND WE NEED YOU!
Fluent Spanish speaking clinician needed!
Catholic Community Services welcomes differences of race, culture, faith, and thought with a strong commitment to naming and combating institutional racism and discrimination within our organization, the Medicaid mental health system, and the child-serving systems with which we work. CCS’s priority for this round of hiring is improving and expanding our services to Black/Indigenous/People of Color (BIPOC) youth. CCS recognizes that as a site made up primarily of staff from the dominant culture/race, we are limited in our ability to effectively serve our BIPOC youth, who are over-represented in mental health services. We know that we need to increase the diversity of our staff by recruiting those who live and/or work from a non-dominant racial lens, and we are actively seeking to build a diverse team of clinicians to challenge traditional thinking in Behavioral Health service provision.
We are a values-driven organization, providing family oriented mental health care for children and families in their own home and community. Our enthusiastic clinical teams provide whatever is needed to help children and youth remain safely in their own home with their family, restoring hope, providing intense mental health services and supports, and helping to strengthen the family unity.
Responsibilities
This is a flexible, primarily weekend-focused position working as a clinician III providing crisis response needed for families enrolled in family behavioral health as well as intake assessments for newly referred youth. The clinician provides individualized and creative mobile crisis response to youth in the midst of a mental health crisis. The clinician is remote and is contacted by phone to provide phone-based or in person response to the child and family in a hospital emergency room, community setting, or in the home.
The clinician provides 24 hour weekend coverage for our Spanish speaking clients in our Community-Based Intensive Treatment (CBIT), Crisis Stabilization, and MRSS programs. The clinician receives thorough verbal and written updates on a weekly basis for each youth they are covering, provides crisis response by phone or in person as indicated, and updates the client’s assigned clinician at the start of the work week. Often both the child and parent are in distress, and need a clinician who can calmly listen with empathy while clinically assessing the situation and providing safety support and crisis management.
When responding to a child in an emergency department the clinician works closely with family members and hospital emergency department staff so that the family experiences consistent and integrated care. The clinician gathers information from the ED social worker, the youth, and the family to assess the youth’s appropriateness for diversion services. The clinician then completes the intake process, with the family and youth’s agreement and participation, including proactive safety and behavior support planning, completing a full mental health assessment, and collaboratively developing an initial treatment plan.
The position could also be 30 hours/week (.8 FTE, Friday 9am to Monday 5pm) or 40 hours/week (1.0 FTE Friday 9AM-Tuesday 5 PM) (1.0 FTE Thursday 9AM-Monday 5PM), depending on the applicant’s preference. Some weekends are busier than others, but compensation is salaried to ensure consistency, with a full-time 1.0 FTE salary of $86,611-96,346 (prorated by FTE). Strong candidates will have solid safety planning and intervention skills, commitment to providing youth with services in the least restrictive setting possible, and high levels of flexibility.
