Job Summary:
Under the supervision and direction of the EHS Education Director, the Education and Training Coodinator’s main responsibility is cultivating the pedagogical growth and professional development of Early Head Start teachers. This is achieved by creating tailored professional development plans, organizing teacher trainings, and providing individualized, one-on-one mentoring. The integrated approach ensures that all professional support is culturally responsive, comprehensive, and fully aligned with children’s readiness to learn.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Mentoring:
- Bridges the gap between theory and practice by helping teachers translate child development research and pedagogical theories into daily classroom interactions.
- Utilizes data-driven outcomes to guide and support staff with the implementation of curriculum, individualization plans, and ongoing assessments.
- Supports the professional development of primary teachers by developing individual professional development plans and additional technical assistance as needed.
- Facilitates individual or group peer-to-peer learning to foster joint capacity-building while utilizing community of practice strategies.
- Applies adult learning theory to design effective professional development plans, deliver engaging training, and utilize motivational strategies that drive teacher growth.
Training:
- Coordinates and manages Professional Development Days in collaboration with all Service Area Managers.
- Develops, prepares, coordinates, and maintains relevant meetings, training support and professional development activities as assigned by EHS Education Director.
- Provides Pregnant Women trainings as assigned by EHS Education Director.
- Develops and disseminates resources and best practices to promote continuous quality improvement within Head Start training and professional development.
- Assist EHS teachers and partners with their ElevatEd account.
- Develop and implement an onboarding training to ensure new teachers understand how to use ElevatEd.
- Monitor ElevatEd to ensure all teachers have an account in the system.
- Work with the Professional Development Institute to create training registration links on ElevatEd for EHS Teachers.
- Monitor and track the required 15 hours in-service for EHS teachers in Quorum, create progress reports(bi-weekly/monthly), and provide updates to EHS Education director
- Monitor EHS teacher training in ElevatEd, ensure training hours and certificates are entered accurately in the system
- Create a system of various training opportunities and resources for EHS teachers to meet the required 15 hrs. of in-service for the program
- Develop and monitor a monthly training calendar for EHS teachers to ensure compliance with the program requirements.
- Attend pertinent meetings with the Professional Development institute (PDI), Quorum, SmartTeach(TSG), and other training agencies to stay abreast of current training opportunities
- that will benefit EHS teachers and partners.
Administrative:
- Ensures teachers are skilled in the implementation of Head Start/Early Head Start Performance standards and Florida Early Learning Standards
- Stays abreast of the Head Start Performance Standards, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), TEACH Scholarships, NAEYC Code of Ethics, Florida Early Learning Standards, child development, curriculum, child assessment and working with families.
- Maintains content area expertise and knowledge of evidence-based practice and trending issues related to early childhood pedagogy and family engagement; disseminates such knowledge by providing ongoing quality assistance to Technical Assistance staff.
- Develops and report the outcomes of teacher professional development.
- Provides updates to partners on the progress of teachers professional development.
- Monitors and reports primary teacher staffing changes to the program weekly.
- Participate in site visits, classrooms observations, and work groups to assess program needs and develop strategies for system improvement across the education, disabilities, and mental health service areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to performing duties related to Technical Assistance Specialist role.
- 70% or more travel is required.

- Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree on Early Childhood Education or related field required
- 1-2 years classroom experience in early childhood or a related field required
- Bilingual (Spanish/ Creole) preferred
- Computer skills required, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems such as ChildPlus
- Excellent communication skills including telephone/email etiquette, listening skills and the ability to respond sensitively and empathetically to the needs of others
- Ability to work with a diverse population
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to prioritize and manage work load and deadlines
- Must be willing to travel all areas, as needed, within the South Florida areas to perform required tasks and provide own reliable transportation. Requires a valid Florida Driver’s License, a good driving record and automobile insurance, as required by the Early Learning Coalition driving policy.
