As an EMT - Basic, you will be utilizing your skills to help patients and facilitate their safe transport to healthcare facilities.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to calls and assess the scene for safety and patient condition
- Perform patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations
- Administer basic life support (BLS), including airway management, oxygen therapy, within scope of practice
- Utilize medical terminology accurately to document patient conditions and treatments clearly and thoroughly
- Operate emergency vehicles safely, adhering to traffic laws and driving protocols while managing heavy lifting and physical exertion during patient transfer
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety
Skills
- Proven EMT experience with a strong foundation in emergency medicine protocols and procedures
- Experience with processes in urgent care or emergency room settings to prioritize patient treatment effectively
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology essential for accurate assessment and intervention
- Familiarity with DME (Durable Medical Equipment) use and maintenance in pre-hospital care settings
- Ability to perform physical examinations confidently while maintaining professionalism
- This role demands a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. Candidates should be comfortable with driving emergency vehicles, performing heavy lifting, and working in different environments. Prior experience in EMS is valued but not necessary.
