We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Estimator to join our growing team and play a key role in securing and planning successful projects.
Job Summary
As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to assess risks, scope, materials, and timelines. Your expertise will directly impact the company’s ability to win work and execute projects profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Lead bid processes for public and private sector projects.
- Identify labor, materials, and time requirements by studying proposals and plans.
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Prepare bid packages and present final estimates to senior management.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary.
- Provide value engineering recommendations.
- Maintain historical cost data and develop estimating templates and tools.
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as an estimator in the civil construction industry.
- Proven track record of estimating a range of heavy civil projects (e.g., roads, bridges, sitework, utilities).
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, AGTEK, MS Excel).
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
