Position Overview
The Overnight Mental Health Support Specialist provides essential overnight support to clients in a residential setting, ensuring their safety, well-being, and the smooth operation of the community. This full-time position anchors our Wednesday and Thursday overnight coverage every week, working alongside our part-time overnight team and existing daytime staff.
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Schedule: Wednesday and Thursday, 4:30 PM - 9:30 AM (2 nights/week, 17 hours/night, 34 hours/week, every week)
Pay: $16.50 per hour
Work Location: In person (One location)
Work Remotely: No
*Sleep Time: Specialists are allotted time to rest overnight during periods when client needs are minimal, while remaining on-site and available to respond as needed. All hours, including rest time, are paid.
Qualifications
- Highly customer service oriented
- 2-3 years experience working in the mental health field
- 6 months experience in administrative duties
Principal Duties and Required Skills
- Provide on-site supervision and support during overnight hours to include direction to third party aides.
- Conduct routine and as-needed house checks throughout the shift.
- Supervise and engage clients in individual and group activities.
- Handle crises or emergencies and report incidents appropriately.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and complete shift checklists via EMR.
- Monitor and coordinate client medication needs and orders relevant to the overnight shift.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and support teams, including clear shift-to-shift handoff notes at shift change.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and maintain a supportive, patient-centered approach.
- Strong communication, judgment, and boundary-setting skills.
- Ability to manage crises calmly and effectively.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Experience in client supervision and support, especially in a residential or supported living setting.
- Ensure food service is provided the HITH way at shift end, including preparing breakfast before handoff.
- Maintain cleanliness of the main house during assigned shift.
- Perform plant management duties as needed.
