The Field Training Officer (FTO), under the supervision of the Training Director or a designated authority, is responsible for overseeing the daily execution of the Field Training and Evaluation Program. This role ensures that Probationary Agents receive the necessary training and information to perform their duties effectively. FTOs are expected to be subject-matter experts in all aspects of field operations, demonstrating both the knowledge and practical skills required for the role. Additionally, they must exhibit strong leadership, serving as mentors and coaches to guide Probationary Agents in the proper direction.

Field Training Officer:
- Demonstrate and explain the duties and functions of the job to Probationary Agents.
- Train, mentor and coach Probationary Agents on duties and performance improvements.
- Rate Probationary Agents’ performance using FTEP standards.
- Prepare Weekly Observation Evaluation (WOE) Report and submit to supervisor.
- Go over reports with the supervisor and Probationary Agent to highlight strengths and areas for improvement.
- Ensure proper uniform and professional appearance, and provide guidance as needed.
- Stay calm and model effective problem-solving in stressful situations for Probationary Agents.
- Create a positive atmosphere during operations and show Probationary Agents how to handle stress effectively.
- Act as the direct supervisor for assigned Probationary Agents during their 90-day probation.
- Maintain consistency regarding evaluations for all Probationary Agents assigned.
- Always show the behavior, professionalism, and skills expected of a Huntsman.
- Assist in teaching the Huntsman Training Course.
US Extradition Agent:
- Agent will conduct themselves in a professional manner when interacting with offenders or law enforcement agencies.
- Agents will always follow company Standard Operating Procedures.
- Agents will transport 1-9 offenders at any given time with a minimum of 2 agents and are responsible for the welfare of each offender.
- Check ins will be conducted hourly at a minimum while transporting offenders.
- Follow various communication procedures and reporting processes.
- Conducts proper searching and cuffing procedures when exchanging custody of offenders.
- Follows proper procedures when transporting offenders for long distances.
- Will follow the Prison Rape Elimination Act and the Dangerous Criminals Act when interacting with offenders, co-workers, and bystanders.
- Properly maintains all equipment and company issued items while in possession (included, but not limited to, vehicles, weapons, electronic devices, etc.)
- Follows DOT guidelines while driving and ensures to follow all reporting methods and procedures.
- Other duties as required.
Skills & Abilities
- Show leadership skills with Probationary Agents and peers.

- Critical thinking in a multitude of situations.
- Proficiency in firearms and use.
- Effective communication skills are required.
- General hand-to-hand combat experience.
Other Abilities and Skills

Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.)
Education/Certifications Required
- High School diploma or (GED) equivalence required.
- 21 years or older.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- DOT Medical Certificate.
- Must complete the company training course’s minimum standard.
Minimum Experience Required
- Experience in military, law enforcement, prisoner transportation or similar field.
- Must have basic firearm training and or provide proof prior to hire (DD214, NRA Certification, or Conceal Carry Permit, Huntsman Pistol Qualification).
- Internal hires must not be on probationary status.
- Internal hires must have three (3) or more successful missions an Agent.
Additional Requirements
- Not subject to a Performance Improvement Plan
- History of above-average initiative and self-motivation
- Ability and willingness to make a least a one (1) year commitment to the program.
- Skilled in communicating as an instructor, mentor, coach, and direct supervisor.
- Completion of at least one transport with a supervisor.
- Must successfully complete mandatory course of instruction for FTOs.
Preferred Experience
- Four (4) or more years of experience in military or law enforcement positions.
- One (1) year as an employee with Huntsman Transport.
- Any combat related experience or special operations is highly preferred.
- Associate or bachelor’s Degree in any related field is recommended.
- Any medical training or CPR certifications preferred.
- Any proficiency in a martial arts or self-defense course.
- Prior experience as an instructor
Fit For Duty Requirements
- E-Verify process completed.
- Drug and alcohol testing is required prior to hire, annual testing conducted, and random testing is at the discretion of the company.
- A fingerprint criminal background check is required prior to hire and a general background check is pulled at the discretion of the company.
- Ability to pass a NCIC and CJIS fingerprint background check.
- Motor Vehicle Record is required prior to hire and pulled annually.
- Huntsman fitness test must be passed prior to applying.
- Pistol and rifle qualification must be passed prior to appointment.
- Must pass the company’s training course’s minimum standards.
- Prolonged periods sitting in a vehicle or at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 150 pounds.
- DOT Medical Certificate must be maintained throughout employment.
Work Conditions
- Long periods of time are spent driving and supervising offenders in vehicles ranging from small sedans to passenger vans.
Unusual Conditions
- This job involves more danger than usual and requires frequent contact with offenders of various types and security levels.
- Working with offenders involves risks, so all agents must stay fit and meet body standards to handle different situations.
Work Schedule
- Work schedules may vary from weekdays to weekends depending on the operational needs of the company.
