Job Summary:
Under the general day-to-day supervision of the Parks Director, maintains the Village Park grounds, Athletic Fields and supports Village events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates various types of heavy, light, and complex equipment used in the maintenance and construction of the Village’s properties, facilities, parks, etc.
- Maintains turf areas including mowing and trimming.
- Communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensures that standards and time frames are adhered to.
- Properly maintains and monitors a Village supplied cell phone; remains “On-Call”, “Duty-Ready” and able to report to work within forty-five (45) minutes of being notified throughout the winter months.
- Adheres to safety protocols.
- Resolves resident complaints.
- Complies with the Village’s Drug Testing Program.
- Attend training seminars as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of tools, machines, and equipment used in the maintenance and construction of Village property, facilities, and parks.
- OSHA safety requirements and standards.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools and equipment including all department trucks, backhoes, front-end loaders, trenchers, snow removal and de-icing equipment, sweepers, and mowers.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Related experience preferred.
ADA COMPLIANCEPhysical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease, or pathogenic substances.
