American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MedSurg/Tele position at an acute care hospital in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active AZ or compact RN licensure.

Acute care hospital setting on a 48-bed MedSurg/Tele unit (4A and 4B) on the 4th floor
-
Patient population includes COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, telemetry, TIA, CVA, and general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 with nurse aides available at a 1:10–15 ratio
-
Telemetry is monitored remotely by monitor techs on the 3rd floor; RNs are required to interpret and sign strips at least once per shift
-
Diltiazem administered at a set rate; RNs are not required to titrate drips
-
Respiratory equipment in use includes BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and nebulizer treatments
-
Charting system is Cerner (experience strongly recommended due to limited orientation)

12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch

Self-scheduling used with manager final approval on a 4-week schedule

Every other weekend (EOW) required

Travelers are designated first to float, with possible float to the East Campus and PCU (if qualified)

No on-call or standby requirements

Active AZ or compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
-
Experience reading and interpreting basic telemetry strips required
-
Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA required
-
Cerner EMR experience strongly recommended
-
A driver's license must be provided for consideration
-
Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

RNs must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) before an offer can be confirmed
-
RNs will be given a pass/fail competency test on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation

Orientation consists of 1 shift (12 hours) on the unit

Holiday coverage expectations include working a combination of day and evening shifts across Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, and Thanksgiving Day

Navy blue scrubs required

Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility; a driver's license is used to confirm permanent address

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
