Job Title: Cabinet & Architectural Millwork Finisher (Paint & Stain)
Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Cabinet & Architectural Millwork Finisher to join our clients production team. This position is responsible for preparing, staining, painting, and finishing custom cabinetry, wall panels, and architectural millwork to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, pays close attention to detail, and understands the importance of producing a flawless finish for high-end commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare wood surfaces by sanding, filling, cleaning, and inspecting materials prior to finishing.
- Apply stains, sealers, primers, paints, toners, glazes, and clear coats using spray equipment and other finishing methods.
- Match stain colors and paint finishes to customer samples and approved specifications.
- Finish both stain-grade and paint-grade cabinetry, wall panels, trim, and custom architectural millwork.
- Inspect finished products for color consistency, sheen, texture, and overall quality before release.
- Perform touch-ups and repairs as needed to ensure a premium finished product.
- Maintain spray booths, finishing equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Mix and prepare finishing materials according to manufacturer specifications.
- Read shop drawings, finish schedules, and work orders to ensure all finish requirements are met.
- Work closely with production supervisors and quality control personnel to meet production schedules while maintaining exceptional quality.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of finishing materials.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience finishing custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, or high-end wood products.
- Strong knowledge of wood species, stains, paints, sealers, and clear coat systems.
- Experience operating HVLP, conventional, or air-assisted spray equipment.
- Ability to achieve consistent color matching and high-quality finish standards.
- Ability to identify and correct finish defects such as runs, orange peel, fisheyes, dry spray, and color variations.
- Ability to read production drawings and finish specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with team members.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with conversion varnish, polyurethane, catalyzed coatings, water-based finishes, and lacquer systems.
- Experience finishing commercial millwork, retail fixtures, hospitality projects, or custom displays.
- Familiarity with color matching techniques and custom stain development.
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
