About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead the startup, integration, and optimization of automated palletizing systems in our high-volume meat processing facility. In this role, you will be the on-site technical expert for End-of-Line (EOL) automation, bridging the gap between mechanical installation and full-scale production. If you have deep expertise in Rockwell Automation, hands-on robotics knowledge, and proven experience in food manufacturing environments, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the onsite commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of automated palletizing cells and material handling conveyors.
- Program, modify, and debug Rockwell Automation systems, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and FactoryTalk View HMI.
- Integrate, touch-up, and troubleshoot industrial robotic arms used for heavy-duty palletizing operations.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to ensure systems meet production metrics.
- Optimize machine cycle times, robot paths, and PLC logic to maximize palletizing throughput and reduce downtime.
- Ensure all automation equipment and wiring comply with strict food safety, washdown, and sanitary design standards.
- Train maintenance technicians and plant operators on system operation, fault recovery, and preventative maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, commissioning, or automation systems integration.
- Expert-level proficiency with Rockwell Automation and Allen-Bradley software (Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000).
- Proven hands-on experience with industrial robotics (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or Yaskawa) in a palletizing application.
- Direct experience working in a meat processing, protein packaging, or similar food and beverage manufacturing environment.
- Deep understanding of End-of-Line (EOL) packaging, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and safety interlocking systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical panels, VFDs, servos, and read electrical schematics.
Work Environment
- This role is based in an active meat processing plant.
- Candidates must be comfortable working in cold, damp, and washdown environments typical of food manufacturing facilities.
- The position requires working directly on the production floor with industrial machinery.
