The Chilton Club is a private social Club in the Back Bay of Boston. Founded in 1910 by ten prominent women from Boston and named after Mary Chilton who is believed to be the first woman to step off the Mayflower. With over 800 members, a beautiful Clubhouse, thoughtfully appointed overnight sleeping rooms, private event spaces, and a beautiful dining room, the Chilton Club is rich in history and tradition.

A Chilton Club food and beverage employee is responsible for taking ownership of their area as assigned per schedule and for providing exceptional service for all Club members.
CHILTON CLUB FOOD & BEVERAGE OPERATIONS
A 45,000 square-foot clubhouse offers members and their guests dining and gathering spaces on multiple floors. The Chilton Club features a beautiful a la carte dining room which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, 9 private dining rooms, and 13 overnight guest rooms.
We offer room service, afternoon tea, in addition to a la carte offerings for our members to enjoy at home for the large holidays.
With over 100 member events annually, the Chilton Club offers something for everyone. From the twice weekly lectures on topics ranging from art to politics, classes and lessons in bridge, French language, art, and needlepoint, not to mention the member socials, family-friendly events, theme nights and wine dinners.
Members and visitors can also host private parties at the Chilton Club. From intimate dinners to galas and weddings, we can transform our spaces to host up to 300 people.
BASIC FUNCTION
The position of the Server is primarily responsible for the service of all food and beverages to the members, as well as to ensure that service levels are achieved according to the standards set by the Membership’s Board of Directors and Food and Beverage Committee
JOB DESCRIPTION
Servers report directly to the Food & Beverage Manager under the supervision of the Clubhouse Manager. Together, with the Catering and Member Events Manager and the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, they ensure all aspects of food and beverage service are to the Chilton standard.
Responsibilities and Authorities
· Welcome members with a warm and gracious manner, by last name as often as possible
· Full and in-depth knowledge of the menu offerings, wine list, and special promotions
· Effectively communicate with other staff members, including servers, bartenders, and managers, to coordinate during service
· Perform side work duties prior to, during, and after the shift according to the set guidelines
· The ability to take food and beverage orders in a professional manner according to the set procedures
· Present food or beverage menus when necessary, take orders, and prepare/ serve beverages according to orders, with beverage napkins.
· Complete setup and breakdown of events in function areas, including but not limited to linen, glassware, silverware, and décor
· Service of appetizers, entrees, desserts, and beverages according to the set procedures and the member’s request
· The ability to perform tasks on the POS, including the preparation of bills and closing of bills
· Assist other team members as required
· Responsible for communicating any relevant information, including food allergies, special requests, and potential problems arising from the serving of members to management
· Responsible for reporting to their service area as per schedule, checking that all side work is completed and area is set according to floorplan and in keeping with the Chilton standard
· Proper wine service and knowledge, knowledge of beers, liquors, and cocktails
· At the end of each meal period, the service team will re-set for the next meal period or next day
· Ensures a clean and sanitary workspace, including but not limited to pantries and front of the house. Make sure silver and glasses are polished and any preparation items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized
· Make every effort to get to know members’ last names and address them by name when greeting and serving
· Assist in any other restaurant or event-related tasks as required by the management
· Follow club policies and procedures
· Adhere to all local and state liquor licensing laws and responsible serving practices
Licenses and Special Permits:
- TIPS / Alcoholic beverage certification preferred
- Allergan Awareness Training
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Work in a hot, humid, and occasionally noisy environment.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma required
At least two years’ experience at a private club, fine dining restaurant, or high-end hotel strongly preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
