Job Summary:
Responsible for setup, operation and maintenance of one or more lathe machines and related finishing equipment to produce good quality metal parts in accordance to specifications provided while working in a safe and efficient manner.
Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Operate multiple lathe machines to produce quality product with little or no supervision; receives instruction from Supervisor
- Perform close tolerance setups, tool changes and adjustments or repairs as needed
- Perform daily maintenance checks and record results, use of basic hand tools
- Complete Daily Production sheet as indicated in work instruction; Report any non-conformances to Supervisor and Quality Coordinator
- Start machine, observe operation and inspect first run and sample work piece to ensure machining conforms to quality specifications
- Complete quality checks, as specified, throughout production run; record scrap as needed
- Use of scale, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges, comparator and other quality tools, and forklift, as needed
- Assist in other operations as necessary to ensure proper procedures are being followed
- Work with support team to resolve specific machine, tooling, setup problems that may arise
- Housekeeping; Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Follow all safety rules and procedures; wear required PPE
- All other duties, as assigned by Supervisor
- Skills Required:
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions, including basic math skills
- Must be mechanically minded with working knowledge of basic shop tools and equipment
- Ability to work safely while meeting deadlines, paying close attention to detail
- Must maintain an excellent attendance record and report to assigned job punctually as scheduled
- Must possess a good attitude and able to work well with others: good problem solving skills
- Assist with training needs and/or offer help to coworkers as needed to meet production goals'
