Inconceivable Automotive | Raleigh, NC
$15/Hour Base Pay + Commission | $75,000+ Earning Potential | $500+ Monthly Team Bonuses | Health, Dental & Vision | Rotating 4-Day Workweeks
This Isn't Your Typical Service Advisor Position
Inconceivable Automotive is growing, and we're looking for two experienced, highly qualified Service Advisors who want to help us build something different.
We're a locally owned, veteran-owned independent repair shop in Raleigh built around a simple philosophy:
Honesty. Transparency. People over profit.
We believe you can be excellent at sales without being pushy. You can build a profitable repair order while still doing what is right for the customer. And you can run a successful automotive business without burning out the people who make it successful.
That's the shop we're building.
And we're looking for Service Advisors who want to help us build it.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting Base Pay: $15/hour + Commission
Earning Potential: $75,000+ per year
Monthly Team Bonuses: Starting at $500 per person when team goals are achieved
This is a performance-based position with multiple opportunities to earn.
You'll receive a dependable hourly base plus commission that rewards your individual performance. On top of that, our entire team has the opportunity to earn monthly bonuses starting at $500 per person when the shop achieves its goals.
We believe success should be shared.
We don't want an environment where advisors, technicians, and management are competing against each other. When the shop performs well, takes care of its customers, and reaches its goals, the people responsible for making that happen should benefit from it.
If you can build relationships, communicate value, confidently ask for the sale, follow up, and take excellent care of customers, there is real opportunity to earn $75,000+ annually.

The Schedule
Work-life balance matters here.
Our two Service Advisors will rotate schedules so that each advisor works:
One month on a 4-day workweek, followed by one month on a 5-day workweek.
Our long-term goal is to transition the advisor team to 4-day workweeks overall as the business continues to grow and the systems are in place to support it.
We want great people to build careers here—not burn themselves out here.
What Being a Service Advisor Means to Us
You aren't just the person standing behind the counter.
You're the connection between our customers and our technicians.
Our technicians are responsible for finding what the vehicle needs and performing excellent repairs. Your job is to help the customer understand it.
That means listening carefully, asking the right questions, reviewing digital inspections, explaining recommendations in plain English, presenting options confidently, asking for the sale, and keeping the customer informed from the moment they contact us until they get their keys back.
Our customers should never have to wonder:
What's wrong with my car?
Why does it need this?
How much is this going to cost?
When am I getting my car back?
A great Service Advisor makes sure those questions are answered.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Creating an exceptional customer experience from initial contact through vehicle delivery
-
Building genuine, long-term relationships with customers
-
Listening carefully and documenting customer concerns accurately
-
Reviewing technician findings, photos, videos, and digital vehicle inspections
-
Building and presenting repair estimates using established pricing and procedures
-
- Clearly explaining what the vehicle needs, why it needs it, and what should be prioritized
Confidently asking customers for repair authorization
-
Following up on declined work and future maintenance opportunities
-
Keeping customers updated throughout the repair process
-
Coordinating with technicians and the rest of the team to keep work moving efficiently
-
Setting realistic expectations and communicating quickly when circumstances change
-
Following our sales, intake, documentation, follow-up, quality-control, and vehicle-delivery processes
-
Taking ownership when something doesn't go according to plan
-
Helping protect the reputation we've worked extremely hard to build
-
The Systems We Use
We're a modern, technology-driven shop. Our team works with:
- Tekmetric — shop management, repair orders, estimates, workflow, and digital vehicle inspections
- ALLDATA — repair information, procedures, specifications, and labor information
- Identifix — diagnostic and repair information
- Shift — communication and workflow support
Previous experience with these systems is a major plus, particularly Tekmetric, but we're also interested in experienced advisors who are comfortable learning new technology and have worked with comparable automotive software.
The Person We're Looking For
We're not looking for someone who simply knows how to write repair orders.
We're looking for someone who knows how to take care of people and sell automotive service professionally.
You may be a great fit if you:
Have previous automotive Service Advisor or Service Writer experience
-
Are comfortable discussing repairs involving hundreds or thousands of dollars
-
Can confidently ask for the sale without making customers feel pressured
-
Understand that listening is one of the most important parts of selling
-
Can translate technical information into language normal people understand
-
Are comfortable using digital inspections, photos, and videos during the sales process
-
Are comfortable learning and working with automotive software and technology
-
Stay organized when the phones are ringing and multiple vehicles need attention
-
Follow established processes instead of constantly reinventing them
-
Communicate well with technicians and respect their time
-
Take accountability instead of looking for someone else to blame
-
Follow through when you tell a customer you're going to do something
-
Want to continue learning and improving
-
Care about your reputation and the reputation of the shop you represent
-
- Understand that individual performance matters, but we're ultimately one team
Want a place where you can build a career instead of simply finding your next job
-
- Like dogs and are comfortable having one around the office
One More Important Qualification...
There's a puppy in the office.
So yes, being good with customers is important.
Being good with dogs is also required.
Our shop has personality, and we're not interested in pretending we're some giant corporate operation. We work hard, take excellent care of our customers, enjoy the people we work with, and occasionally have a four-legged coworker wandering around the office.
If that sounds like a perk rather than a problem, you'll probably fit in just fine.
Sales Matter Here
This is a sales position.
We aren't going to pretend otherwise.
Our Service Advisors are expected to confidently present legitimate repair and maintenance recommendations, overcome objections professionally, follow up, and ask customers to move forward with the work their vehicles need.
But we believe there is a right way to sell.
We educate. We document. We explain. We recommend. We ask for the sale.
We don't scare people into repairs they don't understand.
Our customers receive digital inspections with photos and videos so they can see what we see. We want customers making informed decisions about their vehicles—not decisions based on pressure.
If you're a strong salesperson who also believes that doing right by the customer creates better long-term results, you'll fit in well here.
Who We Are
Inconceivable Automotive was founded with the belief that auto repair can be done differently.
We're a veteran-owned independent repair shop with an experienced team, ASE-certified expertise, modern diagnostic equipment, digital inspections, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
We believe in honesty, transparency, craftsmanship, accountability, teamwork, and people over profit.
Our customers receive photos and videos of what we find. We explain repairs instead of simply handing someone an estimate. We stand behind our work. And we work hard to create an environment where customers actually feel comfortable walking into an automotive repair shop.
Around here, our team is affectionately known as The Brute Squad.
Yes, there are Princess Bride references.
No, knowing the movie isn't a job requirement.
But being exceptional at taking care of people is.
We're Hiring Two Advisors
We're intentionally hiring two strong Service Advisors because we're building for the next stage of Inconceivable Automotive.
We're not looking to fill a chair.
We're looking for people who can help us build a service department known for exceptional communication, strong sales, outstanding customer retention, and an experience people genuinely want to tell their friends about.
We're also building a team where everyone has a reason to help everyone else succeed. That's why our monthly bonus program rewards the entire team when we hit our goals together.
If you're an experienced Service Advisor who can sell, communicate, follow a process, take ownership, treat people right, work as part of a team, and doesn't mind sharing the office with a puppy, we'd like to talk to you.
Apply today and tell us why you'd be a great addition to the Brute Squad.
