Our client in the SW metro is hiring a Diesel & Continuous Improvement Trainer responsible for providing hands-on technical leadership while developing and mentoring diesel technicians to improve skill levels, productivity, and quality. This role combines advanced diagnostic and repair expertise with a strong focus on training, process improvement, safety, and operational excellence.
Salary: $110,000-$130,000 depending on level of experience + bonus potential
Key Responsibilities
- Train, mentor, and coach apprentice and experienced technicians on repair procedures, diagnostics, and best practices.
- Develop and implement hands-on training programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Evaluate technician performance and identify opportunities for skill development.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase shop efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Standardize repair processes and maintenance procedures.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives within the maintenance department.
- Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with leadership to improve preventive maintenance programs and reduce equipment downtime.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of diesel maintenance experience
- Demonstrated experience training, mentoring, or leading technicians.
- Strong diagnostic skills with diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, air brakes, and drivetrains.
- Experience implementing Lean, 5S, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for developing people and building technical talent.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead by example with a hands-on approach.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency, quality, and safety.
