Responsibilities
- Under the direction of Clinical Supervisors, Medical Laboratory Scientists and Lab Coordinators performs receptionist, processor (Core, Microbiology or Anatomic Pathology), and phlebotomist duties to serve patients with compassion and empathy.
- Communicate professionally with nursing staff, physicians, and lab personnel regarding specimen needs or issues
- Accurately enter and verify patient and specimen data
- Provide courteous, professional service to the patients and families
- Follow infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and hospital safety regulations at all times
Experience
- The Lab Assistant II must have-1year NKC Health Lab experience, and either be cross-trained in 3 departments (Phlebotomy, Processing, Reference Lab, or Front Desk / Toxicology) OR
- Be a clinical specialist in Microbiology or Pathology.
Special Skills
- Computer usage, customer service, attention to detail, dexterity,
- Comfort handling biological specimens, and stamina.
- Biology background-Preferred
License/Certification/Education
- High school Diploma or Equivalent-REQUIRED
