The Packing and Shipping Store Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service while supporting daily retail operations, including packing, shipping, mailbox services, retail sales, and U-Haul truck rentals. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and a customer-focused mindset in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet customers promptly and professionally; assess needs and provide appropriate solutions
- Explain shipping options, pricing, delivery timelines, and insurance coverage
- Resolve customer questions, issues, or complaints courteously and efficiently
Packing and Shipping Operations
- Accurately pack items using appropriate materials and methods to ensure safe transit
- Process domestic and international shipments using major carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx,)
- Prepare shipping labels, customs forms, and related documentation
- Weigh, measure, and price packages accurately
U-Haul Truck Rental Services
- Assist customers with U-Haul truck, trailer, and equipment rentals
- Complete rental contracts, verify customer eligibility, and process payments
- Perform basic check-in and check-out inspections of U-Haul vehicles
- Answer customer questions regarding vehicle use, rates, and rental policies
Retail and Store Operations
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle cash, credit, and digital payments
- Sell packing supplies and related retail merchandise
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance
- Stock shelves and monitor inventory levels
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn shipping and rental software
- Ability to lift and move packages (typically up to 50 lbs)
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Valid driver’s license
Qualifications Preferred
- Previous experience in retail, shipping, logistics, or customer service
- Familiarity with shipping carriers and services
- Experience handling vehicle rentals or contracts

- Store hours Mon – Fri 9:30 am – 6:00 pm Sat-Sun 8:30 am – 2:00 pm
