LEAD SWIM INSTRUCTOR

At Catch the Wave Swim Club, our Lead Instructors are among the strongest instructors on our team.
Their primary responsibility is to deliver phenomenal swim lessons. Lead Instructors create energetic, engaging, and effective classes where children build confidence, develop essential water-safety skills, and look forward to coming back each week.
In addition to teaching, Lead Instructors help strengthen our team by supporting and training newer instructors, covering lessons when needed, and consistently leading by example.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Teach high-quality, engaging swim lessons using the Catch the Wave teaching method.
- Create a fun, high-energy, and encouraging environment for every student.
- Help children build confidence, water-safety skills, and swimming ability.
- Build positive relationships with students and their families.
- Serve as an example of excellent teaching, professionalism, and dependability.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and supporting other instructors.
- Cover classes and step in where needed to support the instructional team.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and positive pool environment.
REQUIRED AVAILABILITY
Applicants must be available to work a minimum of three shifts per week during the following teaching hours:
- Monday through Thursday: 4:00–7:00 PM
- Saturday and Sunday: 8:30 AM–12:00 PM
Availability for at least three of these shifts is a non-negotiable requirement for this position. Additional availability is preferred.
LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT
A current lifeguard certification is not required to apply, accept the position, begin training, or start teaching lessons.
However, lifeguard certification is a required part of the Lead Instructor position. Employees hired into this role must successfully obtain an approved lifeguard certification within six months of their start date and maintain the certification while employed in the position.
Candidates must be willing and able to complete the certification requirements within that six-month period.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for candidates with experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Teaching swim lessons
- Competitive swimming or swim-team participation
- Lifeguarding
- Coaching youth sports
- Teaching or working with children
- Childcare, camps, recreation programs, or similar youth-focused environments
Swimming experience is preferred but not required. Candidates without a swimming background may still be considered if they have strong experience teaching, coaching, leading, or working with children.
Leadership or management experience is preferred but not required.

PAY AND BENEFITS
