Job Summary: Immediate hire for FULL TIME LVN in Carlsbad, $50 per hour. PLEASE READ COMPLETE DESCRIPTION AND REQUIRED HOURS BEFORE APPLYING.
- Seeking an exceptional LVN to care for an 18-year-old young man with Level 3 Autism, OCD, and medication-resistant epilepsy. He is mostly nonverbal but highly communicative in his own way.
This is not a traditional "sit and supervise" nursing position. Client is highly active and engaged throughout the day, and LVN has to enjoy being active and involved. The ideal candidate is comfortable participating in activities and spending time outdoors including hiking, going to the beach, etc.
Clinical Responsibilities
The LVN will be responsible for administering scheduled medications and supporting client's epilepsy care plan. This includes recognizing the early signs of seizure activity, administering prescribed rescue medication at seizure onset when indicated, utilizing VNS magnet according to physician-directed protocols to help reduce seizure intensity, documenting seizure activity, and communicating any concerns or changes to the family and medical team. Training on specific seizure protocols will be provided.
Because client's seizures are unpredictable and can occur during exercise, meals, therapy appointments, community outings, or other daily activities, the LVN must be comfortable taking on a highly engaged role that extends beyond traditional medication administration and monitoring.
The LVN will actively participate in client's daily routines, accompany him on walks and community outings, support engagement during therapy sessions, reinforce behavioral strategies, encourage independence, and help him participate safely and successfully in everyday life. Strong observational skills, flexibility, initiative, and the ability to remain calm during behavioral or medical events are essential.

Because consistency and trust are critical to client's success, we are seeking someone interested in a long-term position and able to commit to at least 20 hours per week at least one weekend shift (Saturday and/or Sunday)
The schedule the family hopes to fill is as follows:
- Mondays - 4PM-9:30PM
- Tuesdays - 4PM-7PM
- Wednesdays 3PM-9:30PM
- Thursdays -4PM-7PM
- Fridays 5PM - 11PM
- Saturdays 12PM-8PM
- Sundays 10AM-6PM
Pay: $49.00 - $50.00 per hour
