Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs and preferences.
- Support medication administration following care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Maintain cleanliness of residents’ living areas and common spaces through regular cleaning and sanitation practices.
- Document care activities, update care plans, and record observations related to patient behavior or health status.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, especially those with dementia or memory impairments like Alzheimer's disease or autism spectrum disorder.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with patient transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing changes in health status promptly.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams and supporting residents’ social needs.
