Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across regional routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary.
- Drive a variety of specialized trailers including refrigerated units, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to meet diverse delivery needs.
- Manage route driving schedules to ensure timely pickups and deliveries while optimizing fuel efficiency and route planning.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with DOT standards.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, freight details, and delivery documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch to coordinate deliveries, report issues promptly, and ensure smooth operations.
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver with a valid CDL Class A license, preferably with regional route experience.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and safely.
- Experience handling various types of freight including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, or heavy equipment like dump trucks or forklift operation is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures related to commercial trucking.
- Delivery driver experience in a fast-paced environment with a focus on load & unload processes.
- Ability to navigate route driving efficiently using GPS or other navigation tools.
