Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using medical imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options
- Assist with chairside procedures such as applying sealants or fluoride treatments in pediatric dentistry settings
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation in electronic health record (EHR) system Eaglesoft.
- Follow infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing healthcare infection control standards
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding sensitive information
- Support general dentistry procedures by assisting with dental equipment setup, instrument sterilization, and patient positioning
- Review medical coding and documentation to ensure accuracy in medical records and billing processes
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care
- Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with pediatric patients in a compassionate manner
- Expertise in four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures
- Ability to accurately perform vital signs measurement and interpret results for patient assessment
- Skilled in operating dental equipment including X-ray machines, ultrasonic scalers, and other diagnostic tools
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on maintaining comfort, trust, and confidentiality throughout treatment
- Knowledge of infection prevention management practices aligned with healthcare standards
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management, documentation review, medical coding, and compliance protocols
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients about oral health while ensuring understanding across diverse populations
