Position Summary
The Energy Systems Field Foreman provides on-site leadership and supervision for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems, and related balance-of-system components. This is a working foreman role: the Foreman performs hands-on technical work alongside the field crew while carrying primary responsibility for crew direction, quality oversight, and site coordination. The ideal candidate is an experienced energy professional who is equally comfortable turning wrenches and engaging with inspectors, utility representatives, and clients. The Foreman is the primary field point of contact on every project and is responsible for ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, and to VeriWatt’s quality standards.
This position may based in the Tulsa/ Northeast Oklahoma or Joplin, MO area and requires regular multi-state travel. A company vehicle is provided for business use.
Core Responsibilities
- Direct field crews and subcontractors on solar PV, battery storage, and balance-of-system installations from mobilization through commissioning
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with project plans, applicable electrical codes, OSHA safety requirements, and VeriWatt quality standards
- Serve as the primary field liaison with inspectors, utility representatives, and site contacts during project execution
- Coordinate with project management on scheduling, material procurement, and progress reporting
- Support operations and maintenance activities including system performance assessment, fault identification, warranty claim documentation, and corrective action coordination
- Complete daily field reports documenting work performed, labor hours, and materials used to support project cost tracking and operational oversight
- Maintain accurate records of company-assigned tools, equipment, and project materials, including tracking usage, condition, and quantities on hand
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes, safety regulations, and energy system technology
- Represent VeriWatt professionally in all client and stakeholder interactions
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum five years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation, electrical construction, or a related energy systems field
- Demonstrated experience supervising field crews and managing subcontractors on commercial or industrial projects
- Working knowledge of NEC requirements applicable to photovoltaic systems and battery energy storage
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel regularly across multiple states
- Strong communication skills and the ability to represent the company professionally with clients and inspectors
Preferred:
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) certification or equivalent NABCEP credential
- Experience on tribal nation projects or familiarity with federally funded energy programs
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license in Oklahoma, Missouri, or a reciprocal state
- Experience with battery energy storage commissioning
