Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Landscape & Hardscape Designer to join our vibrant design team. Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive landscape and hardscape designs using PRO Landscape, DynaSCAPE, Vectorworks, or similar design software
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and contractors to understand project goals, site conditions, and environmental considerations.
- Conduct site assessments including land surveying, land use analysis with GIS tools like ArcView and ArcGIS, and soil or horticultural evaluations to inform design decisions.
- Create sustainable landscape solutions incorporating irrigation systems, native plant selections, and eco-friendly materials aligned with environmental standards.
- Prepare construction estimates, material lists, and project timelines ensuring designs are feasible within budget constraints.
- Coordinate with civil engineers and other specialists to integrate civil engineering components such as grading plans and drainage solutions into landscape designs.
- Oversee project implementation by providing detailed drafting instructions and supporting construction teams during installation of hardscape elements like patios, retaining walls, pathways, and water features.
- Ensure all designs adhere to local codes, zoning regulations, land surveying standards, and best practices in landscaping maintenance.
- Utilize Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite to enhance visual presentations for client approval or public display.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends including sustainable design practices, new materials, and innovative landscaping techniques.
Experience
- Proven experience in landscape architecture or hardscape design with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse projects.
- Proficiency in PRO Landscape, DynaSCAPE, Vectorworks, or similar design software — must be able to produce client-ready work from day one
- Familiarity with civil engineering principles related to grading, drainage, land surveying methods, irrigation systems, and construction estimating.
- Knowledge of horticulture practices including plant selection for different climates and soil conditions.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously from conception through completion while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong drafting skills with an eye for detail; ability to produce precise technical drawings for construction purposes.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively with clients and team members across disciplines.
