American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years experience and Cerner proficiency for a community hospital day shift position requiring float coverage across ED, ICU, NICU, and Med-Surg units.

Community-based hospital setting with float requirements across Emergency Department, Adult ICU, Adult Med-Surg, and Adult Progressive Care Unit

Full-service community ED that may require assisting with pediatric care as applicable

Also floats to high-risk deliveries and NICU II as needed based on facility needs and traveler skill set
-
Not a home-based unit position; floating to meet facility needs is required

Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM

Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)

Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays, as determined by leadership
-
100% floating required for all travelers within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Cerner charting system experience required

Minimum 2 years of experience required (18 months may be accepted per unit exceptions)

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, RRT

NRP certification preferred

Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department experience required

Labor & Delivery experience preferred; best fit for candidates with this background

Skills required: airway management (ET tube/suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal/oral airway placement, tracheostomy care), aerosol setup (mask and trach), heated nebulizer and trach collar management, ventilator management (BiPAP, CPAP, weaning from mechanical ventilation), and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy

Neonatal/Pediatric skills preferred: assist in high-risk delivery, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BiPAP, oscillating ventilator, ECMO, and umbilical blood gases

Additional preferred skills: basic EKG, high frequency jet/oscillator ventilation, hyperbaric therapy, and medication administration (Nitric Oxide, Theophylline)

Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited program

License required if applicable, must be in hand prior to start date (temporary licenses may be obtainable while permanent license application is pending)

2 supervisor references required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Responsibilities include providing respiratory care across multiple adult and neonatal/pediatric units based on facility needs

Candidates should be prepared to float to different departments and potentially an affiliate hospital nearby

RTO policy allows auto-approval of 5 days or less of non-holiday time off; additional time requires facility approval

Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays

Indiana residents are considered local candidates; however, local candidates are not accepted for this position due to its ICU/ER/Med-Surg nature

Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month break in employment before applying as a traveler
-
Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment must take a designated consecutive break to reset eligibility: 3 months for out-of-state residents or 6 months for in-state residents
