Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Class A Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating commercial trucks to transport freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all federal and state transportation regulations. Your expertise in handling different types of cargo, including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and hazardous materials, will be essential to maintaining our high standards of service. Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across designated routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, ensuring cargo safety and security.
- Drive various types of trucks including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized vehicles as needed.
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan efficient routes and adapt to traffic or road conditions for timely deliveries.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, inspections, and delivery documentation in accordance with federal regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each trip.
- Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules or any unforeseen delays.
- Follow all safety protocols during load & unload procedures and ensure cargo is secured properly for transit.
Experience
- Proven commercial truck driving experience with a valid Class A CDL license.
- Hands-on experience with manual transmission trucks preferred.
- Familiarity with logistics cargo handling including freight loading/unloading procedures.
- Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and hazardous materials regulations essential for safe operation.
- Experience driving different truck types such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems efficiently in diverse environments.
- Prior experience with delivery routes involving freight transportation across urban and rural areas is advantageous.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety standards and regulatory compliance in previous roles.
