Job Title: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Locum Tenens)
Location: Halifax County, NC
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:30pm, with possible half day Friday 8:30- 12 pm
Duration: 6 weeks, with possible extension
Position Overview
A Clinic is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care on a locum tenens basis. This role is ideal for a flexible provider who thrives in a public health setting and is committed to serving diverse and underserved populations.
Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive primary care services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up

Conduct physical exams and obtain medical histories

Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and lab results

Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations

Manage acute and chronic conditions across a broad patient population

Deliver preventive care, including immunizations, screenings, and health education

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and public health staff to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications

Active and unrestricted NP/PA license in the state of North Carolina

Board certification as a NP/PA

Current DEA license and prescriptive authority

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS preferred)

Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred (public health or primary care experience a plus)

Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
