Job Description
The position of Project Manager is responsible for the company’s day to day management of assigned projects. Phoenix Millworks’ business model is built upon the success of its project managers.
Success for a project manager can only be achieved through proactive collaboration with their project team. This team is comprised of the estimator, project manager, draftsman, programmer, and Phoenix Millwork’s plant manager. Among these key individuals rests an overwhelming majority of decision-making power in the daily management of each project.
For the project manager, this includes managing all project related correspondence between company and client, maintaining their project schedule to coordinate and prioritize all phases of the production process across all assigned projects, and efficiently managing job costs to bring projects in under budget. The job qualifications and responsibilities are described in greater detail below.

Job Qualifications
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Computer literate, able to learn new software without extensive training in the use of a computer
- Strong understanding for the interpretation of project drawings and specifications
- Versed in commercial architectural millwork
- Highly organized and proactive
- Working knowledge of generally accepted take off principles
- Working knowledge of industry related finishes and hardware
- Strong leadership with the ability to positively motivate peers and subordinates
- Familiar with the commercial construction process
- Experience in job costing and budget management
Primary Responsibilities
· Managing correspondence between team and client
· Preparation of project submittal package (submittal drawings, samples, product data)
· Maintaining schedule that establishes a priority for critical path items such as submittal drawings, programming, material requisition, field measurement, production, installation, invoicing
· Directing team members, scheduling production time with plant manager, and coordinating installers in accordance with project schedule
· Order materials and schedule manpower in accordance with project budgets
· Communicate the need for change order pricing and the appropriate details to project estimator
· Understand and ensure team is meeting company established minimum benchmarks for estimating, engineering, and project management
· Provide estimating support in the event Phoenix Millwork is below minimum benchmark for sales
· Promote the importance of safety and utilize best practices to create a safe work environment for the team
· Promote a culture of continuous improvement through the creation of new processes or enhancement of existing processes
· Openly collaborate with interdepartmental peers on elements of physical design, material selection, resource procurement, equipment and cumulative scheduling
· Accurately record job costing information for all projects
· Travel to and from job sites as required for field coordination
