Matrix Providers is hiring a Medical Records Technician to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in at Walter Reed National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD.
- Employment Status: Full-Time
- Compensation: $28.61/hr ; H&W- $5.09
- Schedule: Monday through Friday – 2:45PM – 10:45PM

- Clinic: 5W - Hemotology/Oncology
- Systems: (MHS Genesis) formally known as the Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA). Contractor HCP shall attend training in the use of MHS Genesis, Clinical Information System (CIS)
- Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Requirements include prolonged walking, standing, sitting or bending. Must be able to carry 25-50 pounds and reach high shelving units with the assistance of stepladders to retrieve and file medical records.
The Medical Records Technician must have and meet the following:
- Degree/Education: High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
- Certificates: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Experience: 2-3 years of clerical experience (i.e. MSA/Medical Clerk/Administrative Support/General Clerk
Medical Records Technician Core Job Duties:
- Transcribe and process physician orders for patient care, medications, tests, and treatments.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and organized patient medical records.
- Coordinate and process requests for labs, imaging, consults, therapies, and appointments.
- Answer and route telephone calls, relay messages, and escalate urgent clinical information.
- Support patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, including preparing admission packets and notifying providers.
- File test results and ensure patient records remain current and complete.
- Maintain departmental logs, records, and statistical data.
- Perform general administrative duties, including copying, filing, sorting mail, and transporting specimens and documents.
- Provide clerical support to the Hematology/Oncology Department while meeting established workload requirements.
