Southeast Local Schools seeks a qualified Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide behavioral assessment, intervention planning, and consultation services to students with disabilities
in support of their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Minimum Qualifications
- Active BCBA certification (BACB) and Ohio Certified Behavior Analyst (COBA) licensure, or ability to obtain
- Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or related field
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Pupil Services Permit/License, or ability to obtain
- Successful background check and valid driver’s license required
- Experience in educational or school-based settings preferred
Position Summary
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavioral assessment, intervention planning, staff training, and consultation services to students with disabilities within Southeast Local
Schools. The BCBA works collaboratively with special education staff, general education teachers, administrators, and families to promote positive behavioral outcomes and support students in the
least restrictive environment, consistent with IDEA requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Assessment & Program Development
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students with behavioral needs
- Administer standardized skills assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS, PEAK) to identify student strengths and areas of need
- Design, implement, and monitor individualized ABA-based programming aligned with IEP goals
- Collect, analyze, and summarize behavioral data to evaluate intervention effectiveness and inform program adjustments
- Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, and multidisciplinary team conferences as appropriate
Consultation & Collaboration
- Consult with special education teachers, intervention specialists, paraprofessionals, and related service providers regarding behavioral strategies and programming
- Collaborate with building administrators on building-wide positive behavior support (PBIS) initiatives
- Partner with parents and caregivers to share behavioral strategies and support generalization of skills across settings
- Coordinate with outside agencies, therapists, and service providers as needed Staff Training & Supervision
- Provide training and ongoing coaching to paraprofessionals and instructional aides in ABA techniques, data collection, and behavior management strategies
- Model evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies in classroom settings
- Supervise Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), if applicable, in accordance with BACB supervision requirements
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation including assessment reports, BIPs, progress notes, and consultation logs
- Ensure all services comply with IDEA, applicable federal and state laws, Ohio Operating Standards, and BACB ethical guidelines
- Maintain active BCBA and COBA credentials and pursue ongoing professional development
- Adhere to all district policies, HIPAA requirements, and student confidentiality obligations
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or a closely related field
- Active Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential in good standing with the BACB
- Active Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst (COBA) license, or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Pupil Services Permit/License, or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Clearance of required criminal background checks per Ohio law
- Valid Ohio driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Experience conducting FBAs, developing BIPs, and implementing ABA-based programming
- Knowledge of IDEA, special education law, and positive behavior supports Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a public school or educational setting
- Familiarity with PBIS frameworks and school-wide behavior support systems
- Training in crisis intervention procedures (e.g., CPI – Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary IEP teams
Working Conditions
Work is performed in classroom, hallway, and other school building environments. The BCBA may be required to travel between district buildings. The position requires the ability to interact with
students who may exhibit challenging behaviors, and physical intervention training may be required. The work schedule follows the district school calendar.
