We are seeking experienced Landmen and Title Abstractors to support ongoing Utica Shale oil & gas title projects across Eastern Ohio counties. This contract role is ideal for professionals located in Eastern Ohio who are available for regular, in-person courthouse research.
Work is performed in county courthouses throughout Eastern Ohio and is not tied to a single office location.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform oil & gas title abstracting and land research
- Conduct in-person courthouse research across Eastern Ohio counties such as Columbiana, Mahoning, Carroll, etc.
- Review deeds, leases, assignments, probate, and related public records
- Obtain and report accurate findings using internal platforms and Microsoft Office 365
- Manage workflow independently while maintaining high-quality standards
Required Qualifications
- Four-year degree or commensurate experience
- 2+ years of abstracting experience in OH/PA, or 4+ years of oil & gas abstracting experience in other regions, or 5+ years of equivalent oil & gas/land tech experience
- Familiarity with Ohio county courthouse systems preferred
- Strong computer skills including MS Office 365 and Adobe
- Ability to quickly learn new platforms and technology
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to meet stringent deadlines and work independently
- Reliable internet access and computer (Windows preferred)
- Reliable transportation for local courthouse travel
Preferred Qualifications
- JD, Land Management degree, or Master’s degree in a related field
- Local to Ohio with extensive courthouse experience
- Willingness to work regularly in local county courthouses
- AAPL membership
