The Senior Cost Analyst plays a critical role in supporting both Finance and Operations by delivering accurate inventory costing, insightful analysis, and continuous process improvements. This position partners closely with manufacturing and operational teams to ensure inventory costs are timely, accurate, and well-understood, enabling informed business decisions across the organization.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES TO ENSURE ACHIEVEMENT OF KEY RESULTS AND DELIVERABLES
Financial Costing & Analysis
Support maintenance and evaluation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and cost standards in alignment with corporate policies and production processes
Analyze purchase prices, cost variances, and trends to identify drivers and improvement opportunities
Assist with month‑end close activities, including journal entries and inventory reconciliation, ensuring inventory valuation is accurate and timely
Analyze inventory losses and partner with operations to identify root causes
Maintain inventory costing methodologies and conversion cost drivers
Support data accuracy and enhancements within the ERP environment (Microsoft Dynamics 365), including expansion of reporting and system capabilities
Assist with budgeting and forecasting of inventory‑related expenses
Partner with Operations to support performance objectives and decision‑making
Inventory Processes & Procedures
Provide support in documenting internal controls, policies and procedures for inventory
Assist in the validation that policies and procedures are being followed
Build strong knowledge on D365 framework and needed data tangents to MES
Provide reporting and analysis related to inventory, cost of goods manufactured (COGM), and cost of goods sold (COGS)
Assist Operations as needed, providing analysis and insights in order to make improved business decisions
Cross train on financial analyst duties to serve as backup as neede
KEY RESULTS AND DELIVERABLES (WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE)
Become subject matter expert of inventory / costing function to deliver timely and accurate results
Build strong, collaborative relationships with Operations and cross‑functional partners
Proactively provide analysis and insight into monthly results
Managing multiple priorities effectively with a consistent, high‑quality approach
Demonstrating a self‑starter mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, automation, and data‑driven solutions
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline from an accredited college
Minimum of 5 years of work experience in accounting or finance role, preferably within a manufacturing or inventory-intensive environment
Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 is preferred
Experience with PowerBI and Power Automate are a plus
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel to include pivot tables, nested formulas, and advanced functions
Experience with Office Scripts, VBA and/or macros is a plus
Interest in applying automation, data, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and insights
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Minimal out of state travel required for physical inventory observations and budget planning
