Job Summary/Company: Sparks Group has partnered with a local government organization to identify a detail-oriented
Human Resources Technician to support a busy HR team. This position is ideal for an administrative HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and ensuring personnel actions are processed accurately. The Human Resources Technician will support recruitment, employee records, payroll coordination, position management, and a variety of HR administrative functions while providing exceptional customer service to employees and leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Process and maintain personnel actions, employee records, and HR documentation with accuracy.
- Coordinate recruitment activities, including posting vacancies, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and preparing hiring packets.
- Review new hire paperwork for completeness and ensure all required approvals are obtained.
- Maintain applicant tracking and HR information systems.
- Support payroll administration by researching payroll issues, coordinating special pay actions, and assisting with timekeeping inquiries.
- Monitor employee time and attendance reporting and assist supervisors with resolving timecard discrepancies.
- Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, and statistical data using Microsoft Excel.
- Maintain confidential employee files and ensure compliance with record retention policies.
- Provide guidance to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and administrative processes.
- Assist with position management, employee work profiles, performance evaluations, and personnel transactions.
- Coordinate disciplinary, grievance, and employee relations documentation while maintaining accurate case files.
- Partner with internal departments to resolve HR and payroll-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications/Background Profile:
- 2+ years of human resources, HR administrative, or personnel support experience.
- Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee records, or payroll administration.
- Strong knowledge of HR administrative processes and personnel documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating reports and tracking data.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, or payroll systems is preferred.
- Experience supporting a public sector or government organization is a plus.
