Job Description:
As an Estimation and Design Analyst, you will work on various solar and energy projects for utility companies, government agencies, private developers, and industrial and commercial customers across the US. You will provide preliminary engineering, project estimation takeoffs, and preliminary financial models utilizing CAD and Energy Tool Base for solar photovoltaic (PV) array installations. With a focus on excellence in design, analysis, and optimization, we strive to push the boundaries of renewable energy and create impactful solutions that drive our clients' success.
Role Responsibilities:
- Constructing an accurate estimate of the costs associated with installing solar arrays and storage systems.
- Obtaining pricing from potential subcontractors, equipment manufacturers, and applicable authorities to ensure accurate estimation of solar projects.
- Highly self-motivated to create task lists for himself / herself as well as for others to ensure that the designs/estimates get out on time.
- Highly detail oriented to ensure that designs/estimates are correct in their entirety.
- Presenting information about solar projects to clients and/or architecture and engineering firms via PowerPoint presentation.
- Project management on the design and development of solar systems, from concept to installation, ensuring adherence to project requirements.
- Participate in project planning, proposal writing, and grant application research to secure funding for research and development initiatives.
- Communication skills to interact with clients, co-workers, solar equipment manufacturers, project managers, and subcontractors.
- Conducting on-site visits for future potential projects to ensure accuracy of the design and estimation.
- Supply of preliminary 2D designs such as site layouts and electrical one-lines in AutoCAD and ensuring that the designs meet the clients’ needs and comply with applicable codes/requirements.
- Prioritize tasks to ensure meeting deadlines and to rank importance.

Required Skills for this position include the following:
- Must be highly self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with other Chroma employees/management, customers, equipment suppliers, utilities, and subcontractors.
- Must be willing and eager to learn new tasks.
- Must be willing to travel once every 1-2 months for potential site visits or customer meetings.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
Preferred Skills but not required:
- Knowledge of NEC requirements pertaining to electrical systems especially solar PV systems.
- Estimation experience for new construction projects.
- A working knowledge of detailed mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD
