Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Geotechnical Engineer Laboratory Manager to lead our geotechnical testing operations. In this vital role, you will oversee laboratory activities, ensure compliance with industry standards, and manage a team of technical staff. Your expertise will drive quality assurance, streamline laboratory procedures, and support ongoing research and development initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence project outcomes through innovative testing practices and effective laboratory management.
Duties
- Perform High end Geotechnical Laboraatory Tests including; Triaxial Shear, Permeability, Consolidation and others.
- Lead the daily operations of the geotechnical laboratory, ensuring adherence to all relevant standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, and industry best practices
- Manage and supervise laboratory personnel, providing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations
- Oversee sample preparation, and testing processes for various geotechnical investigations including soil classification, compaction, permeability, consolidation, and shear strength tests
- Speak with engineers, customers and stake holders.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test results using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and prepare detailed reports for clients and project teams
- Implement quality control procedures to uphold the integrity of test data and laboratory processes
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of geotechnical laboratory techniques including soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and related testing methods
- Strong understanding of ASTM, AASHTO and ACOE standards, and industry accreditation requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory management, supervision, and project coordination within a geotechnical or civil engineering context
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data collection and reporting
- Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail in interpreting test results accurately
- Background in research laboratory experience or research & development initiatives in geotechnical engineering
- Effective communication skills for training staff, collaborating with project teams, and preparing technical reports

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
