The Grove Community School is seeking an experienced, relationship-focused educator to join our teaching team.
We are a growing Montessori-inspired school serving students from Toddler through Junior High. Our classrooms are built on strong relationships, high expectations, independence, and a genuine love of learning. We believe children thrive when they are known, challenged, and supported by adults who bring both warmth and consistency to the classroom.
This position will teach History and Science to our Upper Elementary (4th–6th grade) and Junior High (7th–8th grade) students while working closely with a collaborative team of educators.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with real classroom experience who can build strong relationships with students while maintaining a calm, engaging, and productive learning environment.
The ideal candidate is:
- An experienced educator with strong classroom leadership and management skills
- Confident, consistent, and able to set clear expectations while maintaining positive relationships with students
- Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable balancing structure with student independence
- Professional, emotionally mature, and solutions-oriented
- Comfortable collaborating with a team and receiving feedback
- Passionate about helping students become independent, responsible learners
- Committed to evidence-based instruction and helping students think critically about the world around them
- Comfortable teaching scientific and historical topics through the lens of current research, evidence, and scholarly consensus
- Interested in growing with our school long-term
A Note About Curriculum and Planning
This is not a position where daily lessons are handed to you in a binder and simply implemented.
While we provide standards, guidance, support, and collaboration, teachers at The Grove are expected to take ownership of their curriculum, lesson planning, and classroom experience. Successful candidates enjoy designing engaging lessons, adapting instruction based on student needs, and thinking creatively about how to bring learning to life.
The ideal candidate is comfortable:
- Developing lesson plans and units of study
- Creating engaging learning experiences rather than relying solely on pre-packaged curriculum
- Integrating projects, discussions, hands-on activities, and real-world connections into instruction
- Balancing academic rigor with student interest and curiosity
- Collaborating with colleagues while maintaining ownership of their classroom program
This position is best suited for educators who enjoy professional autonomy, creativity, and the opportunity to shape a meaningful educational experience for their students.
