American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level I Trauma, teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring NRP certification and experience in a large L&D unit.

13-week contract with 36- or 48-hour weekly contract options available

Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Labor & Delivery unit at a 554-bed Level I Trauma, acute care, teaching hospital with a children's hospital

Patient ratio of 1:2

Floating required within scope to antepartum and postpartum units as needed

On-call is required: 12 hours per 4-week period for 4x12 contracts; 24 hours per 4-week period for 3x12 contracts

Procedures include cerclage, version, C-section, PPTL, external and internal fetal monitoring, AROM, medically assisted deliveries, C-hyst, neonatal palliative care, nitrous oxide, massive transfusion protocol, and malignant hyperthermia management

Active NM RN license or compact RN license required (NM license may be pending at time of submission)

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — NRP must be in hand prior to start date

Minimum 1 year of L&D RN experience required

Experience in a large L&D unit or facility required

Circulation and fetal heart monitoring (FHM) skills required
-
Experience with postpartum, newborn nursing (baby nurse), and meconium deliveries required (3s/4s experience)

RQI certifications are not accepted — standard BLS/ACLS cards required

Purple scrubs are provided by the facility

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval

All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront
-
Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year mark must take a 6-month break before returning

New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks

COVID vaccination is optional; however, the facility is required to report vaccination numbers — upload your vaccine series record or a signed declination form

Weekend scheduling is managed at the facility's discretion and specific days off cannot be guaranteed for traveling staff

Block scheduling is not guaranteed
